Be there this Thursday as Lafayette Lever, better known as Fat, will have his jersey retired at Wells Fargo Arena. His jersey will hang in the rafters along with Joe Caldwell, Byron Scott and Lionel Hollins when the Sun Devils host the Washington Huskies. The ceremony will take place at halftime of the 6:30 p.m. game. The Sun Devils will continue their home stand on Saturday when they take on the Washington State Cougars at 3:00 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. Kali Bennett had 12 points, nine rebounds and a school-record-tying seven blocked shots to lead Sun Devil Women’s basketball past Utah 59-51 on Saturday in Pac-12 play. Women’s basketball (13-5, 4-3 Pac-12) have won their last three games. This week they head to the Pacific Northwest to face Washington State on Thursday at 8 p.m. MT and at Washington on Saturday 3 p.m. MT.
Women’s Gymnastics defeated California 195.250-194.050 on Saturday. Beate Jones won the all around with a score of 39.300. Rival Arizona comes to town this Friday at 7 p.m. for a State Farm Territorial Cup Series match up at Wells Fargo Arena.
Redshirt freshmen Kevin Radford continued to impress for Sun Devil Wrestling as he was the only Sun Devil Wrestler to post two wins over the weekend. Radford defeated opponents from No.1 Oklahoma State and No. 11 Oklahoma at 184 pounds.
Continuing its streak from 2011, Sun Devil Softball has topped the rankings to begin the 2012 season in its sixth-straight poll ranking at the No. 1 spot. The Sun Devils claim the top spot in the preseason USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Polls. The USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll is voted on by 30 NCAA Division I head coaches, one representing each conference. The Sun Devils received an unanimous No. 1 decision.
