Sun Devil Men’s Basketball earned a Pac-12 victory with a 71-67 over the Washington State Cougars Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. The Sun Devils’ hard work paid off down the stretch as they marked their seventh victory of the season. The Sun Devils rallied behind the play of Carrick Felix and Chris Colvin. Felix scored 20 points and Colvin had 16 points with four assists. The defense was also instrumental in the win as it forced 18 turnovers in the game, 12 of them being in the second half. The Sun Devils travel to California this weekend to play Stanford Thursday, February 2nd and California Saturday, February 4th.
Deja Mann and Kimberly Brandon scored a combined 38 points to help Sun Devil Women’s Basketball in a 57-53 victory over Washington Saturday. The Sun Devils have won their last five games, including three on the road, and are tied with Cal for 2nd place in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils return to Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday February 2nd to host the Stanford Cardinal in the NCAA Pack the House Challenge. Everyone wearing gold to the game will receive a $3 general admission ticket and your 2011 Sun Devil Softball NCAA National Championship team will be recognized at half time. On Saturday the California Bears come to town for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Pink Game. Everyone wearing pink to the game will receive $3 general admission.
Sun Devil Wrestling recorded a victory against CSU Bakersfield on Sunday, 24-17. This Sunday the Sun Devils will host their final dual of the season as they recognize their seniors against the Stanford Cardinal at 2 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. Come out and show your support for your Sun Devil seniors!
Women’s Gymnastics defeated No. 15 Arizona 195.875-194.350 in the first of two State Farm Territorial Cup match-ups. Beate Jones won the All-Around with a score of 39.200 as several Sun Devils broke either season or career highs.
Sun Devil Baseball players Deven Marrero, Joey DeMichele and Brady Rodgers were each named to Perfect Game’s Preseason All-American Team. All three are juniors, and the Sun Devils are one of only two Pac-12 teams to place multiple players on the team. For a first look at the 2012 Sun Devil baseball team, ASU is hosting the annual Alumni Game at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark on Feb. 11. First Pitch will be at 1 p.m. and admission is free!
