It’s Homecoming Week! The Sun Devils take on Pac-12 newcomer Colorado this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. After a week off, we are now 21st in the BCS, 20th in the USA Today/Coaches Poll and 23rd in the AP Poll. The Buffaloes come to Tempe with a 1-7 (0-3 Pac-12) record. For our fans unable to make the game, FOX Sports Arizona will be broadcasting it.
There are a myriad of Homecoming events for all to attend. ASU’s longest standing tradition, the Lantern Walk, begins at 8 p.m. on Friday. The next morning, the Homecoming Block Party and Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. on University Drive. Former Sun Devil Head Football Coach Frank Kush will be serving as the Grand Marshall. Coach Kush and his teams will also be honored at halftime of the game and several of the legends from the Kush era will be signing autographs in front of Old Main.
In addition to Homecoming, Sun Devil Athletics has the honor of hosting the very first Pac-12 Championship. The men and women’s cross country teams will be competing for the conference crown at the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield, Ariz., on Saturday. The men’s 8k begins at 9 am and the women’s 6k at 10 am. Admission is free! Come out and support your Sun Devils!
Soccer is at home this weekend. The team competes Friday at 7 p.m. against Washington State and on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Washington.
I am happy to announce that our Graduation Success Rate is at an all-time high of 79-percent! Five of our programs lead the Pac-12 with a four-year GSR of 100-percent: men’s swimming and diving, women’s swimming and diving, women’s track and field and cross country, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball. Our football team ranks third in the Pac-12 and our women overall rank second in our conference. Great job to our Sun Devil student-athletes!
I hope to see everyone out there at Homecoming this week!
