Football went up to Salt Lake City and gave Utah a strong Pac-12 welcome. The team forced five turnovers and Brock Osweiler finished 25 of 41 for 325 yards and three touchdowns. In addition to Brock, wide receivers Mike Willie and Gerell Robinson and safety Clint Floyd had standout performances. Prior to Utah, Mike had 10 catches for 136 yards this season. Against Utah, the senior had seven catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Gerell also had seven catches and went for 101 yards. Clint forced a fumble and had an interception. The win improves the Sun Devils to a 5-1 overall record and 3-0 Pac-12 one. We now sit at 18 in the AP poll and 20 in the Coaches Poll.
The team looks to maintain their undefeated conference record as they head up to Eugene to take on the No. 9 Ducks. ESPN’s College GameDay will be on hand to witness the first Top-25 matchup between two Pac-12 teams this season. Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m., and will be telecast on ESPN.
For those not making the trip to Eugene this week, head out to soccer on Friday night as they take on No. 1 Stanford at 7 p.m., at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised nationally by Fox Soccer. Friday’s game will be the annual Pink Out for breast cancer awareness. Fans who wear pink to the game will be admitted for only $3. The team will also be retiring the jersey of Sun Devil Soccer alum Stacey Tullock who was inducted into the ASU Sports Hall of Fame earlier this month.
Soccer’s Pink Out is not the only way Sun Devil Athletics have recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This past Sunday, the entire Sun Devil Athletics freshman class, the women’s basketball team and several football players volunteered at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Phoenix. The student-athletes ran a water station, serving and cheering on every participant. Additionally, the softball team participated in the 5k. It was a great event and has been a wonderful tradition for the student-athletes to participate in.
