School begins this week and football season is nearly here! Come out to our scrimmage and select-a-seat this Saturday at 8 a.m., at Sun Devil Stadium for a sneak peak of the 2011 season. Admission and parking are free and the team will be signing autographs, so bring your entire family.

It Begins
The 2011-12 Sun Devil Athletics campaign kicks off this Friday as soccer opens their season against NAU. The first athletic event of the year starts at 7 p.m. at Sun Devil Soccer season. Be there for the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting soccer season. The team will be wearing their new uniforms, and those you will not want to miss.

2011 ASU Sports Hall of Fame
Sun Devil Athletics has announced their ASU Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2011. Congratulations to Adam Archuleta (Football, 1997-2000), Mike Benjamin (Baseball, 1986-1987), Lucy Casarez (Softball, 1979-1982), Kurt Nimphius (Men’s Basketball, 1976-1980), Grace Park (Women’s Golf, 1998-2000), Townsend Saunders (Wrestling, 1989-1990), Marvel Smith (Football, 1997-1999), Stacey Tullock (Soccer, 1998-2000), Molly Tuter (Women’s Basketball, 1994-1997) and Fernando Vina (Baseball, 1990). All inductees will be honored at the Hall of Fame football game on October 1 against Oregon State.

Back in Black
On Friday, September 9th, the Sun Devil Football team takes on Big 12 foe Missouri. The game is set to kickoff at 7:30 PM on ESPN. The Sun Devil Football team will take the field in their new black uniforms. The Sun Devils reincorporated black into the uniform color scheme in conjunction with Nike in a nod to the ASU football teams of the past, which wore black helmets.

I hope everyone has a great week and good luck to our students as they begin school on Thursday. I would especially like to welcome our new freshmen as they begin their Sun Devil journey.
